Hida-Takayama International Contemporary Woodblock-Prints Triennale Has Ended.
The Hida-Takayama International Contemporary Woodblock-Prints Triennale has ended with the 11th exhibition in 2020. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the artists who have participated in the exhibitions, to all of the visitors, to the judges and to everyone who has supported our project for a long time. Takayama City will continue its efforts to promote woodblock prints and other arts, and we appreciate your understanding .

What is HIDA-TAKAYAMA INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY WOODBLOCK-PRINTS TRIENNALE
Since ancient times, surrounded by forests, Hida Takayama has developed a unique culture for woodblock printing. This style of printing has always been popular in the area and is specifically called “Hida Woodblock Printing.” While passing down traditional techniques, Hida artisans have been creating original pieces of art. In order to promote and let the world know about the culture of Hida Takayama, the Hida Takayama International Contemporary Woodblock- Prints Triennial invites both domestic and international artists to showcase their create new technical innovation and creativity.

The First Term:Takayama Cultural Hall ※It has finised.
November 26 ～ December 1, 2020

The Second Term:Hida-Takayama Museum of History and Art ※It has finised.
December 12, 2020 ～ January 11, 2021
9：00am ～ 7：00pm

Regarding the secondary screening that has been postponed for a long time due to the new coronavirus(COVID-19) infection, we held it on August 6th.

We received 352 pieces of works from 38 countries and 182 works were chosen for secondary screening.

Application method（stopped accepting applications.）
[Applications Period] October 1 - 31, 2019 . ※We have already stopped accepting applications.
[Type of Printing] Woodblock-prints created in 2018 or later. Digital printing is not permitted.
[Application Criteria] This contest is open to the general public.
Each applicant may submit up to two pieces of artwork.
Artwork which has already been submitted to another competition will not be accepted.
The maximum paper size should be 90cm x 90cm (35.43in x 35.43in) .
[Application fee]
Free for the initial screening and 2,000 yen per piece of artwork for the secondary screening. A fee will be charged to applicants who pass the initial screening.

First Prize/1 Winner (500,000 yen)
Second Prize/1 Winner (300,000 yen)
Third Prize/1 Winner (200,000 yen) and other awards
